ADR DRIVER TRAINING CERTIFICATE

FULL 5-DAY ADR DRIVER TRAINING COURSE

On passing our FULL 5-day ADR driver training certificate course, a driver would then be able to transport all types of dangerous goods by road in both Tanks and Packages, other than Class 1 (Explosives) and Class 7 (Radioactive) substances.

Holding an ADR vocational training license is required by UK regulations.

Any ADR or driver training course that you attend at Keep It Legal is approved by the Department of Transport and of course .gov.uk.

If you are looking to undertake an ADR full driver training course or an ADR refresher course, then it is important to understand the requirements within the UK or the European Union for carrying any type of hazardous goods.

One of the key benefits of attending a Keep Legal ADR driver training course is that you will qualify for 28 of the 35 hours required to qualify for your CPC driver periodical training commitment.

The content of the course includes core, packages, and tanks, plus a full coverage of classes 2,3,4,5,6,8, and 9.

One of the major benefits of attending this course is that it keeps drivers informed and updated around the legal requirements for transporting both dangerous and hazardous goods.

The course includes the following modules:

ADR Core Module

ADR Core

During the ADR core module you’ll get a complete overview of the loading and unloading of dangerous goods, making sure you follow loading security protocol, as well as basic firefighting, emergency first aid, and emergency procedures when dealing with tank containers.

The ADR Core module forms the “core” part of being successful in obtaining your ADR driver training certificate.

ADR Tanks Module

ADR Tanks

There are various types of tanks a driver may come across and some of these include Road Tankers, Tanks that are de-mountable, portable tanks for use on construction and excavation sites, and MEGCs (Multiple Element Gas Containers). This is all covered in the ADR tanks module.

The ADR Tanks module forms part of obtaining the broader ADR driver training certificate.

ADR Packages Module

ADR Packages

Anybody transporting dangerous goods in package format will need this ADR packages module training as a basic part of the full course. The types of materials carried include acetone, adhesives, paints, gasoline, perfume, ethanol, methanol and some pesticides with flammable solvents.

The ADR Packages module forms a core part of obtaining your broader ADR driver training certificate.

ADR Class 2

ADR Class 2 (Gases)

ADR Class 2 gases are identified as compressed gas, liquified gas, which could be either low pressure or high pressure, as well as refrigerated.

Also included in the class 2 family of gases are dissolved gas, aerosol dispensers, non pressurized gases (which are subject to special requirements), as well as chemicals under pressure and absorbed gases.

ADR Class 2 forms a portion of obtaining the ADR driver training certificate.

ADR Class 3

ADR Class 3 (Flammable Liquids)

ADR Class 3 covers liquid substances and molten solid substances, and under the heading of Class 3 you will also find liquid desensitised explosives among others.

Also diesel fuel, gas oil, or heating oil with a flashpoint of over 60° C will be included within Class 3.

ADR Class 3 forms an important part of obtaining the ADR driver training certificate.

ADR Class 4

ADR Class 4 (Flammables)

ADR Class 4 has three sub sections, with the first including flammable solids, self-reactive substances, polymerizing substances, and desensitized explosives.

Next in Class 4 we have substances liable to spontaneous combustion, and finally substances that when in contact with water would emit a flammable gas.

ADR Class 4, a key class in the ADR driving industry is a very useful component to have as a driver looking to obtain their full ADR driver training certificate.

ADR Class 5

ADR Class 5 (Oxidisers)

ADR Class 5 is one of the most dangerous elements and includes oxidizing substances and organic peroxides.

Class 5.1 Oxidizing substances are those that can decompose quickly. These can release oxygen or oxidizing substances that can quickly become flammable.

Class 5.2 Are organic peroxides which can be very unstable materials. This means they can become extremely flammable in certain situations, including under extreme heat.

ADR Class 5 for Oxidizers is one component for obtaining the ADR driver training certificate.

ADR Class 6

ADR Class 6 (Toxics)

ADR Class 6 are primarily made up of biohazard material. This includes pathogens and other potential diseases. Bacteria, viruses, fungi, and different types of parasites fall under the Class 6 Banner.

The ADR Class 6 certification is one of the most difficult to obtain. It can be a huge benefit to ADR drivers in terms of career options and is highly valued by employers looking for qualified ADR professionals with a valid ADR driver training certificate.

ADR Class 8

ADR Class 8 (Corrosives)

ADR Class 8 covers the area of corrosive substances. These are substances that can react to being exposed to water or air.

There are 11 different classes of corrosive substance which will be covered in class 8

ADR Class 8 is a useful addition when studying for the full ADR driver training certificate.

ADR Class 9

ADR Class 9 (Miscellaneous)

ADR Class 9 is a general category which like Class 8 has 11 different sections. These are particles and substances that while in transport can present various dangers.

ADR Class 9, with its different sections is a useful class to have, and can help in successfully obtaining the ADR driver training certificate.

Of course, if you are in a position where you already have your required quota of CPC hours, then maybe a better option is our 3 Day ADR Refresher Driver Training Course rather than the full ADR driver training certificate.
