DRIVER CPC DEADLINE

The UK government revised the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) in December 2024, providing more flexibility for domestic drivers. These changes affect the qualification maintenance, return to professional driving, and CPC cards issued.

Drivers can choose between International and National Driver CPC. The International CPC remains the same, requiring 35 hours of training every five years for UK and EU professional driving. The National CPC introduces flexibility for UK-only drivers, allowing shorter courses, non-consecutive training days, and total e-learning.

The process for returning to professional driving after an expired CPC has been simplified; options depend on the length of expiration and desired driving scope. The physical Driver CPC card remains mandatory but varies based on the training taken.

These changes offer benefits such as increased flexibility, a simplified return process, and clear certification. Employers should understand these changes to support their drivers and comply with new regulations. For more details, refer to the official government document.
