How AI is revolutionising the Logistics and Warehousing Industry
With the torrent of businesses using AI (Artificial Intelligence) for all manner of business processes. We want to focus on the logistics and warehousing industry and how one company, Linde Material Handling (UK) is developing safety products for a wide range of warehouse operations across the UK and Europe.
In a recent article from Fleetpoint, it shows how Linde Material Handling has developed a “smart” tracking and safety system that can detect people from static objects.
They have released a truck-mounted reverse camera to help forklift trucks and other machinery handlers to be alerted in case of any danger or injury to workers nearby any working vehicle.
This AI technology uses a set of programmed algorithms to set up a warning system. This warning system shows on the screen and of course, gives alerts to the driver that there may be potential danger.
Gavin Carslake, Safety Sales Manager with Linde Material Handling (UK), was quoted as saying: “If it detects a person within a defined angle around the camera, the system triggers a multi-level warning system via the optional 7-inch colour display together with an acoustic signal. It can also activate an automatic reduction in driving speed.”
